I must say that I think they all did a wonderful job, but KStew really stepped up her game in this one. For me she grew the most in her character. Of course Rob was great, but I think he had Edward from the beginning. Taylor was great and I thought he “grew” into his character a bit more, although he wasn’t in Twilight much so it’s hard to compare.
Great Question.

Hi Kimberly–i agree that its hard to compare Taylor’s performance from Twilight to New Moon….its a completely different role. And KStew was both a funny and a sad Bella, which was exactly what we needed in the movie. I’ve seen the movie 5 times and i see cry when Kristen **spoiler** screams during her nightmares. Heartbreaking.

Kimberly, my thoughts EXACTLY! I have to give my vote to the Kstewy too. I’ve never been as hard on her as some people *ahem* *cough* Christen *cough* LOL (Luv you Christen);)But IMHO she portrays Bella’s desolate, sullen condition with such acute accuracy… She perfected the zombie-like state (ZOMBIES Christen!) *LOL*
Melissa, I think Kstew had some good comedic timing as well… who knew Bella was kinda funny, eh?! Screaming during her nightmares: those scenes were very moving; because to me, Bella is such an introvert and she’s the more of ‘suffer in silence type,’ that it was just natural for her to hold all of that pain in. But when she was asleep, and unguarded, in such a vulnerable state, her unconscious let all those terrible feelings out and unleashed those screams.
I have to say though that Michael Sheen as Aro was the stand out character in New Moon. He totally and utterly embodied Aro for me. I loved his high-pitched laugh.

To be honest, I think that the stand-outs in the movie were Kristen, Rob and Michael (Sheen).
I won’t write a lengthy review- I’ll never stop, but I’ll do a quick rundown.
Kristen: TOTALLY just…got, Bella. She understood exactly how Bella was suffering. Because Bella never suffered like a normal person, she was in constant pain, and even when Bella was happy and with Jake, that pain was always on her mind, and Kristen did a super job of portraying that. And also, Kristen screaming in Bella’s nightmares made me cry like a baby.
Rob: Rob, will be Rob. I thought that Rob had totally nailed Edward in Twilight, but here, he really stepped it up. Every look, was spot on. And I loved how they showed Edward’s witty and funny side, because Rob did that perfectly as well.
Michael: Holy *BLEEP*. Michael Sheen just blew me away as Aro! He had that perfect balance between good and evil, like Aro had, and some of my non Twi-friends asked me whether he was a goodie or a baddie, which means that he really communicated Aro to the audience.
And I suppose I should mention Taylor, too. I loved him as the happy, “younger” Jacob- he did that perfectly. But in some scenes, where he was trying to be threatening- “Don’t get me upset, things are about to get VERY ugly!”, just came off a bit forced. I think it’s because he over-enunciates alot though. But, I must say, that, he did a great job considering he isn’t as experienced as the other actors. Plus he understands his character very well.
That was my *short* review.
